Japanese Maple 2
Crepe de Chine
Square: 48"x48"(122x122cm)
ref #: 14144-008
Inspiration for this motif derived from the negative space created in the area between leaves on a Japanese Maple tree.
Looking up through the tree revealed varying patterns and scales, from the large leaves in the foreground to the smaller leaves and branches within the distance above.
Removing all of the natural color and blackening the sky in the original photo gives the various scales defined clarity. The print progresses across the deisgn from larger to smaller scale. The scarf looks as if it were strung together from a series of Rorschack tests, yet if you look closely you can still see distinct and delecate shapes of the Japanese maple leaves.
